TIE Evolution Continues with Kylo Ren’s TIE Fighter

Here we have it, as seen on today’s episode of the Star Wars Show, the first official image of Kylo Ren’s TIE Silencer. Is Kylo the space equivalent of a car guy? How many custom ships does he have lying around First Order destroyers? I bet he gets the love of ships from Han’s side of the family. Read on to see the fighter in flight!

So if you’re like me, you check out leaks. . .er I mean ‘intel’ on the movies before they come out. I first saw this ship model in a Lego leak a few weeks ago (I didn’t post pictures because they were getting taken down left and right,) but now we have an official image. The TIE Silencer is a mash-up of famous TIE designs along with Kylo Ren’s aesthetic thrown in. Here we can see some of the wide shape of the fighter, which is reminiscent of Darth Vader’s TIE Advanced x1 model. There are also the wings based heavily on a TIE Interceptor, or a TIE Reaper if you turn them sideways and add wingtip blasters. There appears to be an entry hatch at he top, standard to most TIE models, but the cockpit is a deep red instead of transparent. The cockpit tint matches his personal command shuttle from The Force Awakens.

So somebody is an obvious fan of the glorious Empire, and I’m not talking about myself. It isn’t surprising he has a custom TIE fighter at all, being the son of a famous pilot and the grandson of a man who was known to pilot and tinker with ship designs in his younger days. On repeat viewings of Force Awakens I grew to love the design of Kylo’s Upsilon shuttle, and this new fighter of his looks built to impress. It undoubtedly features many of the upgrades to the First Order TIEs, such as shields, hyperdrive, and enhanced weapons. We’ll see what kind of damage this new TIE can do this December!
